Jones makes squad changes for Bledisloe Cup clash

Wallabies coach Eddie Jones has dropped fullback Tom Wright, utility Reece Hodge and loose forward Pete Samu from his Bledisloe Cup squad to play the All Blacks.

The first game, a week on Saturday in Melbourne, will complete the Lipovitan-D Rugby Championship, while the second in Dunedin, seven days later, will complete the annual Bledisloe Cup series.

Andrew Kelleway, Taniela Tupou, Jordan Petaia and co-captain and flanker Michael Hooper are returning from injury as replacements. Tupou played for Australia A against Tonga last week, while Hooper is named in a rehabilitation group but is confident he will be ready for the Melbourne Test.

Jones said: "We're very disappointed with the results during stage one of our campaign.

"We need to find more in stage two, and Melbourne will be the ground where we find our best."

Earlier in the week, Jones said Australia would learn from their loss to Argentina and be better against the All Blacks.

"I quite fancy ourselves against New Zealand. They haven't been put under any pressure yet. And we've got the ability to put them under some pressure.

"I don't think we've got any right to be confident.

"But what we can do is prepare well, get out of the blocks, put them under pressure, which we will do.

"I like coaching against New Zealand, it's like the highlight of the year."

Having returned to the Australia coaching position, Jones said every game was a learning experience, and by using the warmup games correctly, they could still be in the correct position ahead of the Rugby World Cup.

Better never rests.
