Pool play at the 2025 Rugby World Cup wrapped up with the Black Ferns producing some standout individual performances, led by 18-year-old fullback Braxton Sorenson-McGee.
Sorenson-McGee finished pool play as the tournament’s leading point scorer with 38 points, combining six tries - including two hat-tricks against Japan and Ireland - and four conversions. Her attacking threat is underlined by her joint-top 10 line breaks and 228 metres gained, putting her among the most dangerous ball carriers in the tournament.
Other Black Ferns stars made their mark as well. Renee Holmes sits second in points with 33 (14 conversions, 1 try), while Liana Mikaele-Tu’u is second for offloads with seven, closely followed by Jorja Miller in third with seven offloads and fourth for line breaks with eight.
The Black Ferns now turn their focus to the knockout stages, taking on South Africa in a quarterfinal at 12.00am NZT on Sunday, 14 September. Watch live on Sky Sport NZ.
