Ducan was a foundation member in 1929 before going north where he played and promoted rugby. 

After the war, he returned to Northcote and joined the administrative team. From 1947-64 he was club delegate on the ARU's management committee.

He was president of the club from 1961-64 and vice-patron from 1966-78.

A life member of both the club and the Auckland Rugby Union.
