Maurice joined the club in 1969 and coached the junior boys for 14 years. He spent 20 years on the management committee from 1969 and was manager of the senior team in 1971 when Norm McLeod was coach. That team undertook a four-game pre-season tour of Australia.

He coached junior boys teams again, from 1974-84 and was the Auckland under-16 selector-coach for two years.

he was Northcote's BMB delegate on the Auckland RFU for six years and was in the works steering committee for the construction of the new clubrooms at Harvey Wright and supervised the construction of the building project.
