1986

An excellent season for this team this year. We had to scratch for players at the start of the season, but with friends from school we soon molded into a very powerful side.

Ably led by first-five captain, Campbell McKenzie, and vice-captain, hooker Michael Hollings, two players who always turned in top performances. In the front row, Matt Stead , Johnny Meki and Paul Grasby always proved a hard uncompromising front three that rarely got beaten.

The second row of Kelvin Parkin and Geoff Taylor consistently won enough good lineout ball to feed the backs and both were toilers in the tight. Matthew Wood, Danny Paltridge, Peter Waters and Ritchie Clark were the loosies who kept their noses close to the ball all season and were all ferocious tacklers.

Halfback Michael Knauf had an excellent pass and was always testing the opposition with little dabs around the scrum. Second-five Nicholas Cameron was an excellent distributor of the ball and always sound on defence, and with centre Nigel Summers, another hard runner and tackler, they formed a formidable mid-field pair. The wings were one of our strong points, with the top try scorer, hard-running Stefan Howell, and the pacy Michael Crowhen always proving a handful for their opposites. Fullback Paul Santo was a tower of strength and often had to fill in at other positions in the forwards and backs - a very versatile player.

I would like to thank the parents for their support throughout the season with supplying oranges and drinks, and also my co-coaches. We've all had a very enjoyable year.
