2016

A big turn out to the 1st training gave new management duo Coach Andrew Menzies and Manager Ben Dallow positive signs of what was to come. A big squad was the requirement with 3 tournaments in 3 weekends.

Led by Courtney McCarthy, Cote got their 7s campaign off to a flyer in the North Harbour Club Championship. Winning all 5 games to be crowned 2015 Harbour Champions the first time since 2010. The Round Robin results were as follows:

Northcote 28 North Shore 24
Northcote 52 Marist 0
Northcote 19 ECB 12
Northcote 33 Silverdale 7

Northcote then went on to take out Takapuna 17-12 in the Grand Final.

Unfortunately, the team then hit a bit of a speed bump the following week at the Glenfield 7s. Whilst the effort was there the results didn't come, failing to qualify for the championship semis. However the following week they would once again put everyone on notice.

Being the only club side participating in the Auckland 7s tournament Cote opened their account knocking over The Waikato Rep side 19-0. Close losses against BOP and Northland meant a date with National Champions Wellington on Sunday. After a good 1st half the boys just went down 10-21. The loss did however have a silver lining. A date with North Harbour Rep side in the play-off for 7th and 8th. Northcote, playing an outstanding brand of 7’s defeated Harbour 19-17. This result helped secure Northcote 5 representatives (Theo Hermans, Ben Smith, Renata Roberts-Tenana, Callum Law and Mike Lee) in the Harbour squad for the rest of the season. Harbour went on to claim a runners-up spot at the National 7’s with the Cote boys well to the fore.
