This year I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to coach J8 Black, with a few new players and some from last year, it was definitely a challenge to start all over again but we got there in the end, as some had experience from last year they were a lot of help to those who were just starting out.

It’s been awesome to watch the progression of the boys and Maya throughout the season from catching and passing the ball to following the ball and helping each other set up tries. I am really proud of the work and effort they put in during training even though they do not like listening! But they would always use what they were taught on the field at some point. A little bribe of chocolate would go a long way for the boys and Maya it encouraged our team to get stuck in a get those rips when we weren’t getting many. It was good to see the stats sheet even out towards the end of the season to see there progression.

I would also like to thank all the parents for their help at training and games with taking turns washing the jerseys and especially a big thanks to Mitch for all your help, I really appreciated it and also thanks to Tanya for taking all our photos and videoing all the boys and Mayas tries for everyone to see.

I’m very much looking forward to next year to see them all return and take that next step at getting even better than they are now!
