It was a great first rugby season for the J8 Gold players. It was great to see the boys gain confidence throughout the season and their understanding of the game increase.
The coaching sessions at the beginning of the season provided some good foundations. There were many milestones along the way: celebrated first tries and first rips, achieving turn-overs and some slick passing towards the end. We had a great turnout throughout the season and often loaned out our players to make up numbers – the kids and parents showed great commitment!
There are only two recurring comments from the parents:
- The game scheduled for the first weekend of the school holidays should be dropped.
- The season has ended too early.
On the whole, all the new families felt welcomed into the club and many are already looking forward to next season.
We all think Matt Stanford did an amazing job coaching his first rugby team; we want to keep him as our coach for next year!
