2019

It is fantastic to see that one of the biggest growth areas in Junior Rugby is in Girls Rippa.

Watching our U9 team develop their skills, confidence and sense of team has been great viewing over the season.  Some of the team knew each other from previous seasons, some new to the club and the game. Our team introduced a weekly ‘Cote Spirit Award’ for the player who showed a lot of commitment to improving, trying hard to get rips and also playing through a few knocks and spills at the try line.

All players have contributed so positively to the team this year including some sensational try-saving rips. The girls have been hungry for the rips, passing, catching and running with increasing confidence. On the days where we have been short a player, Annabelle (Edie’s little sis) switched her Football kit to Rippa kit and it was great to see her get her first rip last weekend. We can’t wait to see her playing Rippa in 2020.

I would like to acknowledge Emma Williams for coaching the girls and for being one of the few female rugby coaches at the Club. We hope Emma continues to coach in the years to come. With Emma also playing Rippa, David Hurst stepped in on Saturday mornings to support the team – big thanks to David and our team supporters, you have been the best support crew and we only ever heard encouragement and cheers.

Thanks for a great 2019 season girls!
