We were blessed this year to have half a season of rippa rugby and wow, what a delightful half season it was. I feel doubly blessed because I got to know eleven delightful tween girls that made up the Cotes U13 Gold Girls Rippa Team. They were a vibrant, well mannered, cheeky, kind and intelligent bunch who formed bonds with each other that will last well beyond this short season.
At least half the team had never played rippa before but that didn’t stop them, and they loved it. I was absolutely blown away the day that a girl who had never played a team sport before scored her first try. Well done to all of our beautiful tweens.
All you parents can be extremely proud of the girls you brought to the team, they quickly learnt the rules and skills of the game, then entered the fray each Saturday morning with glowing smiles on their faces. They all showed a maturity beyond their years which comes from solid consistent parenting. Well done!!!
Thanks to Amelia, James, and Lou for helping out at training and at game times, and a special shout out to Pam the 'ref' Dacey who put her hand up to ref but never got a chance to showcase her skills due to the 'covid lockdown'. And to our Coach, Jo Sutton who sacrificed her life to coach the team, all the girls and us parents owe you a solid. Thank you.
Eddie
