We finally made it to 15 a side this year and what a difference full field has made. The transition from half field to full-field emphasised the importance of everyone on the field doing their job as the field is too big for a few players to be everywhere.

This year the team has been working on learning the specific roles in the game and where and how they fit in the team. From the front row and making sure the hooker contested every scrum, to the locks who secure the lineout and our potent back three who were always in the fight.

We started developing some kicking plans and it was great to see the fight demonstrated by the tacklers in the backline right to the last game against Takapuna.

It is tough to go through a year without a win, but no doubt this will be a great character-building experience for the kids and a lesson on how important teamwork is.
