J1 this year had a great start to the season, playing good footy throughout, at times looking and controlling games more like senior teams, which was awesome to watch.
Standout performances include wins with big points vs Takapuna, a tight win over North Shore and close epics against Marist and Massey.
We played 13, won 9, and lost 4. The team should be proud of their season.
Most of the team are going off to high school next year, so we wish them the best of luck and hope to see them back at the Cote to play U21s and Prem rugby!
Huge thanks to Paul and Liam for coaching this year, Karen and Mandy for managing, to all the parents and supporters, but most of all, cheers, boys, for a great season.
As I write this, we are on an end-of-season team trip to Hamilton to play a game and then watch the All Blacks. Listening to the banter amongst the boys and laughter shows what a team they have become. And that’s what rugby is all about.
Thanks for the journey.
Bevan
