Two J3 teams, White and Maroon, merged to become J2 Maroon. The players turned up at our first training, excited to finally learn the 15-a-side rugby game.
Thursdays soon became our main training night where the whole team could train together. This proved valuable as we went through the season, there was a lot to learn with adapting to space on a full field, contesting scrums, line outs and kicking conversions.
It was an interesting season with a mixed bag of results. Some games challenged our players, and some games, through grit, determination and amazing teamwork, brought our team a winning result that they so deserved. The players can be proud of the great sportsmanship they showed throughout the season.
The last game of the season, we went down by one try. Although we went down on the scoreboard, every player can be extremely proud of what their team has achieved. That very same team had beaten us earlier in the year by 52 points. This showed as a team, we had improved our skills, bonded well together and were playing great team rugby.
Thank you to Glenn Newman for being our referee for the season, Matt for helping out at training and our other dads who have stepped in to help by holding tackle bags and being involved in the games at practice. Our supporters have been fantastic, turning up each week to cheer our team on.
You are all amazing players and have made coaching and managing this season enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you all next season. Go the Cote.
