What an awesome introduction to Northcote Rugby!

With only a couple of our players who had played rippa before, we were very new to the game. Our focus was on learning how to rip and how to squash the worm. After a couple of pre-season trainings, we were ready to hit the ground running. Our first game was a learning curve. The game was fast-paced, but we managed to get some rips, and everyone in the team scored a try.

As the season progressed, so did our confidence and knowledge of the game. We kept working as a team, finding the gaps and scoring tries. About halfway through the season, things started to really click into place. The passes started coming, the support play was outstanding, and turnovers were becoming a regular thing. Over the season, we managed 320 rips and 207 tries - what a team!

Our whānau support was second to none. Not only was our immediate whānau there every week, but we always had extended whānau coming to watch and cheer us on too. We have a great support team.

We can't wait to be back for our next season in the maroon and gold.
