Another season to be grateful for. Every year we manage to dust ourselves off and squeeze our finely tuned physiques into a Cote jersey and run (or walk) around on a Saturday with brothers is special, but particularly in recent few years when there has been so much disruption and uncertainty.

With a mix of “seasoned” President’s grade athletes and a bunch of new superstars all collectively bringing a combination of youth, enthusiasm and decades-old injuries, it’s often difficult to find cohesion. But given the many years of combined experience and supreme knowledge of the game, we played some awesome footy, scored some outstanding tries, and at times played as cohesively as a team who’ve been running around together for years, defying not only age but also the laws of physics and fitness (or lack of).

2022 has been a tough year for many of the President's Grade teams, and the Nobras were no exception. With so many players having children or family members exposed to Covid and coupled with isolation protocols, it meant that we were unable to muster a full team a few times, which was a bitter pill to swallow for our proud team.

The fact that we’ve found ourselves in something of a rebuilding phase, given injuries and retirement, means the Nobras are actively recruiting! If you (or anyone close to you) would be keen for a bit of footy on a Saturday, followed by a beer as we recount the incredible feats just displayed on the field, then reach out and come along to join the Mighty Northcote Nobras! We’ll look forward to welcoming the new recruits in 2023.

A special farewell and huge thanks to Alfie, who has (along with Nancy and the kids) been a massive part of our team and club for many years. Go well brother.
