Someone important to go here

Women's rugby is growing, but there are still gaps in the pathway from Rip Rugby to Junior Tackle and then to Senior Tackle.
In 2026, we are running a rugby program that provides a progressive path for girls looking to take on tackle rugby and reach higher levels. It aims to ensure girls can participate for as long as they wish and at the level they choose.
The first girls to get started are the college girls, the U15 and U17 players.
We start with a three-week program, twice a week, going over some of the core concepts of the game and how we train.
We get the girls confident about the season ahead, then split them into their two grades to continue their preparations for the season ahead.
In June, we will visit each U11 and U13 Rip Rugby team and run an introduction to contact rugby practice session.
This is a chance for every girl to 'give it a go' in a friendly environment with their friends.
We start by teaching them how to fall and then move into tackling and being tackled. We aim to give you confidence that you can play the game without getting hurt.
For the U11 and U13 girls who enjoyed the contact sessions in the previous month, we gather together for a four-session program to continue building that confidence and technique.
At the fourth session, we play our first game.
We play a modified version of Rip Rugby, removing the rips and replacing them with tackling. This allows the girls to play a game they already know and avoid confusing new rules, while giving them the most important experience of running into contact and making those first tackles.
We make it a big event, create a stadium like field for them, flags and banners are out and we get all the family down to watch and see that first game.
After our first game, we plan to invite other clubs and their first-time players to participate in a four-team round-robin tournament.
This will be where we step up again, by introducing rugby rules and playing in a Sunday exhibition-style tournament.
