The 2025 Team

The Inaugural team started with an ambitious plan and a team of girls who just wanted to be rugby players.

They amassed significant support, with hundreds of followers, 50K social media views, and an adventure never to be forgotten.

By the end of the year, we had girls go on to many further achievemnts:

  • 4 Harbour U18 players
  • 2 Waikato U18 players
  • 5 Harbour 7s U18 girls
  • 6 Global Youth 7s participants
  • 1 NZ Māori Girls Global Youth 7s player
  • 1 NZ Barbarians Global Youth 7s player
  • 1 North Harbour Farah Palamer Cup representative
“Coming home was amazing with the whole rugby community talking about us. ”

Become involved in the 2027 Team

Portugal is a long way away, and we will need sponsorship to get there. Can you help?

This Girls Rugby Program and tour to Portugal is more than just a trip to a tournament in Europe.

The program is about learning a higher level of the game and providing a big stepping stone for girls to go on to club rugby when they leave school.

It's about the experience of being part of a team that isn't picked for their rugby talent, but for their desire to play the game and being surrounded by girls with the same attitude.

This isn't a team about winning.
It's about wanting to win.
Wanting to learn.
Wanting to be better.

With this program, we are looking to create a love of rugby
and, as a consequence, some life skills.

Naming Sponsor

Become the team's naming sponsor and get your name and logo on all our gear and media through to May 2027.

In 2025, the team generated an amazing interest from people at home and abroad. Not just with the excitement of the adventure, but also the tournament achievements.

With your support, we want you to become part of the team, attend our events and practices, and be part of the journey. As you support us, we would love to support you.

Team Sponsor

Not only is Portugal a long way to go, but the girls also need support with team equipment, medical supplies, training aids, specialist help, management staff, practice games, the list goes on.

Help sponsor the team to cover the things behind the scenes so that the girls can concentrate on learning a new level of the game and preparing for the challenge of touring to Portugal.

Jersey Sponsor

Each player has space across the back of their jersey for a major player sponsor, as well as logos on each sleeve for minor sponsors.

Help a player directly by sponsoring them to become the rugby player they wish to be.

Our Team

The Big Dance in Portugal

In April 2027, we are entering a U18 Girls' Rugby team into the Rugby Youth Festival, which is held in Lisbon, Portugal. This will be the 19th year of this tournament, which attracts 120 teams.

The tour will start by landing in Paris, where we will take the train to La Rochelle to play a warm-up match against the Top 14 club, Stade Rochelle U18 girls. From there, we will travel to Lisbon and the tournament to pair up with a 'sister' team. We will share training and dinner, and look to support each other during the tournament.

We are there to play rugby and represent NZ Rugby, our team and ourselves. But rugby is also about meeting new friends and people and experiencing new places.
