A great opportunity has arisen for the role as our Rugby Manager (Youth Rugby).

North Harbour Rugby was formed in 1985 and encompasses a geographical area that includes 12 rugby clubs and 18 secondary schools within the North Harbour region.

The purpose of the Rugby Manager – youth is;

Accountable for growing and maximising  Youth Rugby, incorporating secondary schools, clubs and volunteer engagement /participation for HarbOUR Rugby.

To be considered for this role the person must be a leader to drive the Harbour Way in our community.  This must be backed up by strong personal qualities and a management style that connects, grows & potentiates our people. The person must have excellent Rugby acumen. Some coaching/management experience would be an advantage. The person must also exhibit a passion and desire to connect with our community game.

Rugby Manager Youth, North Harbour Rugby Union (“NHRU”)

 

Reports to (title)

Head of Rugby Engagement and Participation

 

Direct reports

 

As per NHRU organisational chart

Functional relationships with

Union staff; NZRU staff; The Blues; other Provincial Unions; NPC/FPC Management team; Clubs; schools; other stakeholders.

MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION

 

The Rugby Manager, Youth is accountable for growing and maximising the engagement and participation of Youth Rugby in the region within clubs and schools.

Youth Rugby Participation and Development 

 

 

  • Create Rugby environments that support the growth of Youth Rugby in the region.
  • Coordinate and align other North Harbour staff around the Rugby Environments to maximise participation, growth, and development of identified individuals and groups.

 

Emerging Talent programmes

  • Create and Lead Emerging talent programmes that align with the NHRU and NZR Emerging Talent principles.

 

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

  • Work cross-functionally with other organisations to ensure Harbour Rugby is well-respected
  • Work closely and collaborate with key intermediaries i.e. that support Youth Rugby - NHRU Secondary Schools Rugby Committee

 

Research and Innovation

  • Research and investigate other forms of rugby engagement and participation for Youth Sports
  • Successfully implement and manage new programs that attempt to engage and develop the “social player” in schools

 

Administration and Operational Management

 

  • Assist with Community programmes as required- which would include various community tournaments
  • Preparation of planning and reporting documentation as required.
  • Excellent standards of written and verbal communication.
  • Operate within budget at all times.
