Crunch Time: The Road to the Sevens World Championship Begins

All BlacksFebruary 26, 2025
With two rounds of the regular HSBC SVNS remaining before the end-of-season world championship in Los Angeles on May 3-4, both New Zealand teams face daunting finales.
The Hong Kong tournament will be played on March 28-30, and a week later, the Singapore tournament will be contested on April 5-6. Thus, the teams have a month to prepare for the world championship, which will be contested by the top eight teams on May 3-4.
The Black Ferns Sevens sit atop the table, six points clear of Australia. With only the tournaments in Hong Kong and Singapore left in their season, they are well clear of third-placed France, on 52 points, while the USA is fourth, on 46.
Argentina heads a clustered men's field with 68 points, with Spain second with 64 points. Fiji and South Africa share third place with 62 points, while France is fifth with 46 points, and Australia and New Zealand share sixth with 38 points.
In Hong Kong, the Black Ferns Sevens will be in a pool with Brazil, China, and the USA, while the All Blacks Sevens pool includes South Africa, Australia, and Uruguay.
Don’t worry, there’s plenty more fun to come 🤩
