Northcote's First Woman Blues Player

Congratulations to Holly Williams, playing her debut game for the Auckland Blues in the Aupiki competition.

Coming off of the bench in the second half, Holly made her first appearance for the Blues Women on the right wing.

The team had been trailing all game, but in the 79th minute, Holly took a kick through from the 22, caught it and out-muscled the defence to score, bringing the team 24-29 behind with a kick-off to come. It wasn't to be a miracle finish for her first game, but so great to see Holly get on the field.

Holly played rugby through all the junior grades with Northcote before heading to Westlake girls for her college years. She has made several representative teams over the years, including this year's NZ Secondary Schools sevens team.

We are all looking forward to watching her presence grow in the game and inspiring the next Northcote girls coming through, like Paris Robertson, pictured with her at the end of the game.
