Stu Conn, a lanky loose forward and sometimes lock, who became the club's first Auckland representative in 13 seasons. He played 69  times for Auckland, aspiring to All Black status in 1976 and played six matches. Stu also captained the NZ Combined Services team before retiring.

Stu was a country boy from Gluepot Road, Oropi, near Tauranga and played his first rugby at the Greerton Marist Rugby Club, where he is recognised as their first All Black. Stu can still recall his first coaches, John Wilson and Ian Darragh, who taught him the rules. It wasn't until 1973 that Stu then travelled North and joined Northcote for three seasons.
