Bill joined Northcote in 1956 and played for the seniors, mostly as a hooker, from 1957 and didn't finally toss his boots away until 1988 when he made his final appearance in the Presidents grade.

He was first elected to committee in 1959 and by 1984 he had served:
4 years as club captain.
3 years as asst. club captain.
3 years asst. secretary.
2 years junior boys coach.
3 years as senior team manager
4 years senior reserves manager
