Here we go Again

In 2024, we created a girl's rugby program with the aim of sending a team to the Rugby Youth Festival in Lisbon, Portugal.

That started a 16-month journey with the most amazing outcome in April 2025.

What does this program look like?

The program is for girls who wish to learn, play, and develop their rugby. This may be their first year, or they may have a few years of rugby behind them or want to return to playing the game.

Each month, we will come together to:
Learn aspects of the game from concepts, how we learn, balancing our lives and keeping alive the reason we play and enjoy the game to start with.
Plan our fundraising and trip and support each of us to get there.
Train as a team, creating our own game style and how to work as small teams to create large results.

Outside of the group environment, we help players individually with their rugby development. When they want to improve a skill or if they are having trouble in some area, we will be there to help guide them through and keep them engaged.

“Train smarter, not harder”
Program Approach
2025 U18 Girls

The team of 2025 was made up of a variety of players from Mahurangi to Northcote to North Shore to Waikato.

This was not a team of rep players or experienced players, but rather a group of players who wanted to play and learn rugby.

The BIg Dance

In April 2027, we will travel to Portugal to play in the Rugby Youth Festival tournament.

This tournament attracts 120 teams, and it will be in its 18th year, where we will be entering the 15-a-side U18 Girls competition.

This will be our time to come together as one group of like-minded players, playing together and experiencing the unique environment of a travelling sports team.

The tour will start by landing in France, where we will travel to play a warm-up match. From there, we will travel to Lisbon and the tournament.

On our travels, we will meet a whole new group of like-minded girls from another part of the world. We will look to train, share meals and make new friends.

Register your Interest

Right now we are looking for players who are interested in this program.

By filling out the form below, we will keep you informed as developments unfold. Our first event will be a meeting for you to attend, where you can learn about the program and ask questions. In early February, we will look to open official registrations.

** To qualify for the U18 grade in 2027, we expect you will need to be born after August 2009, but we will not be able to confirm that until around April 2026, when the tournament confirms.
