This was an exciting year for J2 Gold with a culmination of existing J2 players from the previous year, players stepping up from J3 and four players that were new to Rugby. Impressively, this team gelled quickly and got on with the season winning almost all of their games with great teamwork often the contributing factor.

We were very fortunate to have Danny Drake from the Northcote Premier team volunteer his services at the start of the season and with the consistent coaching from Lyle (versus the inconsistent coaching from Glenn who was often away with other Rugby commitments) the players grew with each training and this really showed on the field on Saturdays.

We started the season with the intention of making sure that the boys and girls enjoyed their rugby and have an appreciation of the game, which we feel we achieved. Having 25 players at the beginning allowed experimentation, with players often changing or playing positions that were new to them. The willingness of players to learn in these situations made coaching a pleasure for all of us.

The coaches would like to express our thanks to the support the team was shown by the parents and family's throughout the season, and to all the players for having a go at any challenge that was put in front of them. We look forward to seeing returning players back next year, and for those heading to High School we hope to see you back at the Mighty Cote in 6 years time. To all players, we wish you all the best for your Rugby in the future.
