Doug joined teh club in 1952 and with his wife Elsie was keenly interested in the junior boy's football, being a member of the sub-committee. He was elected to the management committee in 1954 and continued in that role until 1973.

Doug ran the bar for many years for the club as a volunteer at the old clubrooms at Nelson Ave while the club fields were at Stafford.

His sons, Garry, David and Brian all played for the club.
