One of the early members who became a committeeman in 1932. An officer in the New Zealand Army, his particular interest was in the playing side of rugby and fitness.

He was transferred to Hamilton when war broke out.

The Fletcher cup, for the annual competition against Takapuna, was named in his honour.

He was one of the trustees of the property prior to incorporation.
